Yes! They’re a great alternative to something like longer-sleeved men’s dress shirts during warm weather. They make a perfect wardrobe addition for vacations, casual Fridays at work, or a relaxed weekend. Caswell’s selection of short-sleeve shirts are designed to maintain their “cool” look even when the sidewalks are melting.
Short-sleeve shirts are often made from sturdy cotton or linen, lightweight silk, or modern fabric blends like nylon and polyester. The fabrics used must “breathe” in warm weather, and the shirt should hold its shape to maintain a crisp, clean look through hours of wear.
If you live in a warmer climate, of course! Most men choose to wear short-sleeved shirts in warm seasons like spring and summer, or when travelling to warmer climes for business or on vacation. Short-sleeved shirts are by definition a bit more casual and laid back.
It’s always recommended to check the label for specific care recommendations. In general, consider turning the shirt inside out and using the “gentle” cycle on the washing machine. Cold water and a mild detergent will help preserve the fibers and the color. Air drying on a padded hanger is recommended over dryer heat.
As a proud Canadian retailer, Caswell's handpicks brands worth wearing. The short sleeve collection includes Tommy Bahama, Maceoo, Psycho Bunny, Au Noir, and Bugatti, covering everything from silk camp shirts to stretch styles and bold prints. Check the collection page for what's currently in stock.
Short-sleeved shirts have a collar, a button placket, and a more structured cut, which gives them a smarter, more put-together look than a t-shirt. They sit comfortably in the middle ground between fully casual and dressed up, making them an easy choice for a wider range of occasions.
Yes, with the right layering. A short-sleeved shirt worn under a lightweight jacket or overshirt works well through spring and autumn. The structured collar still shows, and the overall look stays intentional rather than underdressed. It's a combination that gets more use out of the shirts you already have.
